Portuguese endocrinology has shown increasing vitality thanks to the enthusiastic and contagious commitment of its associates, increasingly asserting itself in the clinical and scientific area in the national and international medical environment.

With this Congress we seek to maintain the creation of a space of excellence dedicated to the continuous training of all those who are interested in the area of endocrine diseases and also contribute to the promotion and dissemination of research carried out in Portugal, in this area of medical knowledge, seasoned with the essential conviviality among its associates.

The diversity of topics and the scope of their approach sought to meet the different interests of the Society's members and study groups, as well as the teams of the services and institutions that work in the different areas of endocrine diseases, incorporating many of the suggestions received.

The organization of the pre-congress courses should be praised, which intended to incorporate areas considered deficient in endocrinologist training and which this year once again include a course aimed at Endocrinology Nurses, essential partners in our clinical practice.

Partnerships with friendly societies, national and foreign, continue to constitute a concern of SPEDM and the existence of several joint sessions in Congress are an unequivocal sign of the continuous strengthening of such relations.

The Endocrinology Congress/74th Annual Meeting of SPEDM will also have the important role of promoting human relations and contacts between members and teams, an aspect that we believe is essential in the progress of national endocrinology. We will seek to associate moments of relaxation with the scientific component, where we can cultivate bonds of friendship and camaraderie that are so important in our professions.
