44 endocrine societies partnering around a petition calling for urgent REACH revision by the European Commission

On 14 March 2023, the European Society of Endocrinology, in collaboration with the Endocrine Society and 42 European national and specialist societies, submitted a petition to the European Commission to take urgent action on the revision of the REACH (Restriction, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) legislation.

Citing the urgent and immediate need to minimise exposure to Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) in the interest of public health, the petition insists that flaws in the REACH regulation must be addressed without delay. EDCs are not a compromise area, and improving the current legislation is required to fulfil the mentioned objectives.

ESE, together with its partners, will continue to urge the Commission to submit the REACH proposal to the European Parliament without delay. ESE members and partner societies can further support this effort by reaching out to their local policy makers. Read the petition here and the press release here.
