ESE Working Group continues its push for stricter regulations and policies on endocrine-disrupting chemicals in the EU

The ESE endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) Working Group recently commented on the European Commission (EC) Roadmap towards a “Fitness Check” for EU legislation on EDCs, as part of its continuing push for stricter regulations and policies on EDCs in the EU.

While welcoming the Fitness Check, which intends to avoid current loopholes in EU legislation and work towards a more horizontal definition of EDCs, the Group is concerned that the Fitness Check will simply lead to  further delay of action. The Group make it clear in their comments that there is sufficient independent, scientific evidence available for the EC to start implementing necessary measures without further delay. Moreover, the Group urges the EC to broaden the scope of their Fitness Check and include EU legislation and policies on building materials and clothing.
