Get ready for European Hormone Day 2023

European Hormone Day 2023 will take place on 15 May 2023 (during ECE 2023 in Istanbul). This is the second dedicated hormone awareness day organised by the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and the European Hormone and Metabolism Foundation (ESE Foundation).

Our core aim is to engage with policymakers across Europe and bring together the endocrine community to raise awareness of the role of hormones in preventing and treating disease. Most of the population in Europe has a basic idea of what hormones are but may not have a full understanding of their function and how important they are for our overall health and wellbeing. European Hormone Day aims to change that by sharing information and starting conversations. From these, we hope that European and national policy makers will become more aware of the need to pay close attention to hormones when drafting policies, to improve endocrine health and address the challenges caused by endocrine-related diseases.

We will again be focusing on the four key themes of ESE’s 2021 White Paper and the 2022 European Hormone Day – Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs), Cancer, Obesity and Rare Endocrine Diseases.

This year ESE will have a particular emphasis on EDCs – coinciding with the European Commission’s revision of the “REACH” - Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals Regulations.

Please mark the date in your diary and get involved in your national society's plans as well as ESE's activities - more information will come soon in the EARS Newsletters, ESE monthly news alerts and on our social media channels.

We will be using the hashtags #EuropeanHormoneDay and #BecauseHormonesMatter – and we encourage you to use them too.
