Read our statement on Europe’s beating cancer plan

The European Commission, represented by commissioner Dr Stella Kyriakides, released Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan on 4 February 2021. She applauded the Commission’s plan as setting “ambitious” goals and deadlines to curb the impact of cancer on European citizens’ lives. The overall aim is to create a linked up EU strategy to tackle the disease, setting common goals for prevention and treatment, reducing some of the inequalities in the provision of cancer care among different EU countries, and improving the quality of life of cancer survivors.

The European Society of Endocrinology has engaged with the development of the plan and produced a position paper to be shared with policy members active in shaping the plan. We welcome the release of the Beating Cancer Plan as it will touch upon many key of our key priorities.
