Pierpaolo Trimboli (Switzerland)
Professor Pierpaolo Trimboli MD achieved the Degree in Medicine (2001) and Post Graduation in Endocrinology and Metabolism Diseases (2006) at Endocrinology School and Thyroid Center of Sapienza University of Rome (Italy). After the Post Graduation he worked at Ospedale Israelitico in Rome where he performed several clinical investigations in the field of thyroid tumors published in the major International journals. Later, in 2016, he moved to Switzerland where currently he serves as Senior Consultant and Responsible of Endocrinology at Lugano Regional Hospital. He is also Titular Professor at Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) where is Responsibile of the module of Endocrinology. His main tasks include thyroid cancers, goiter, biopsy of thyroid nodule, non-surgical treatment of benign thyroid nodules (i.e., radiofrequency ablation). He published overall more than two hundred articles in the most important journals in the field of thyroid and endocrinological diseases. He finally serves as Associate Editor and is member of editorial office of several journals in the field of endocrinology.

Agnieszka Piekiełko-Witkowska, PhD is a molecular biologist and Full Professor of Medical Science and Health Science at the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education (CPME), Warsaw, Poland where she holds the positions of Head of Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Vice-Dean of School of Medicine, and the Director's Plenipotentiary for Scientific Development and Innovation. Her scientific interests include hormonal regulation and cell metabolism changes in cancer development and progression, with special focus on links between thyroid autoimmunity and cancer, thyroid cancer, thyroid hormone actions. She earned her MSc and PhD at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Warsaw, and did fellowship at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, III. Zoologisches Institut-Entwicklungsbiologie. Her research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, such as Thyroid, Cancer Letters, European Journal of Thyroid, Frontiers in Endocrinology or Journal of Biological Chemistry. She has received several national awards, including the 3 Team Award of Polish Minister of Health for scientific achievements and the award of Polish Society of Endocrinology for oral presentation in 2008. She has been nominated Basic Lead of the European Society of Endocrinology Thyroid Focus Area in 2020. She has served in scientific programme organizing committees of the European Society of Endocrinology and European Thyroid Association.

Ulla Feldt-Rasmussen (Denmark)

Ulla Feldt-Rasmussen (Denmark)
Ulla Feldt-Rasmussen is Professor at Copenhagen University and Chief of Medical Endocrinology and Metabolism, National University Hospital. Her research interests involve the thyroid gland and autoimmunity as well as pituitary and adrenal dysfunction. She has published more than 500 papers in peer-reviewed journals on e.g thyroid hormones and body composition, thyroid autoimmunity and cancer, cytokines as regulators of endocrine cells, influence of thyroid disrupting chemicals on thyroid cells, growth hormone deficiency related to body composition, bone metabolism and other pituitary axes, and transition from adolescent to adult care, as well as several aspects of Fabry disease. She has additionally written many text book chapters and served as Editor of text books. In recent years her group has embarked on studies on pituitary function after traumatic brain injury in a nationwide setting and focusing on diagnostic accuracy of pituitary testing procedures. She has organized numerous international meetings and postgraduate courses and has led several European projects and other collaborations within many areas of endocrinology. Professor Feldt-Rasmussen reviews for international journals, and she is an editorial board member of several endocrine journals. She belongs to many international professional organizations, including the Endocrine Society, ESE; ETA, ATA, ENEA, and GRS; she has served as Secretary-Treasurer of ETA and as President of the ETA Cancer Research Network. She is currently member of ATA’s as well as ETA’s Public Health Boards, ATA’s focus group on Thyroid Disrupting Chemicals, ETA’s Archives board and ESE’s Thyroid Focus Group. Professor Feldt-Rasmussen serves on the advisory boards of several ad hoc endocrine committees, and been recipient of many prestigious prizes including the ETA Pinchera Prize, Mayo Clinic’s Haynes’ Lecturer’s Award, and Bror Axel Lamberg’s thyroid research award.

Cosimo Durante is Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Rome Sapienza, Rome, Italy, where he received his MD, residency and PhD training in Endocrinology and Metabolism. His research interests are focused on thyroid tumors management, including both benign and malignant neoplasms. He has demonstrated record of successful and productive research projects to more personalized thyroid nodule and thyroid cancer follow-up strategies. On this horizon there is his contribution in creating the web-based database of the Italian Thyroid Cancer Observatory, which was established to collect real-world data on thyroid cancer management in a prospective and consecutive series of newly diagnosed patients. He is an active member of the American and European Thyroid Association, and European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer. He is an Associate Editor of Thyroid.

Rosella is an Associate Professor of Endocrinology, Dept of Endocrinology, Pisa University, Italy. Rosella has an M.D. degree (cum laude) and a speciality degree in Endocrinology: (cum laude) from Pisa University, Italy. RESEARCH EXPERIENCE IN FOREIGN INSTITUTIONS: 1989-1990: Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. 1994-1997: Postdoctoral Assistant, Division of Endocrinology, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center/UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA, (6 months) and then Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Cincinnati, OH, USA (24 months). PROFESSIONAL AWARDS: 2011 The European Thyroid Association Max Pierre-Konig poster award in recognition of the best poster in clinical thyroidology. 2012 “Light of Life Foundation” international award dedicated to the best thyroid cancer researcher of the year, Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center, New York. International awards for “excellence in published clinical research” in the J Clin Endocrinol Metab in the years 2006, 2012, 2015 and 2016. 2018 European Thyroid Association (ETA) award as a distinguished scientist and in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Thyroid Research. 2020: Awarded by the President of the Italian Republic of the title “Commendatore” in recognition of scientific merit in thyroid cancer research. 2021:British Thyroid Association award “George Murray” lecture for the fundamental contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the field of pathophysiology and therapy of thyroid disease PUBLICATIONS: More than 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals, more than 60 manuscripts in meetings’ proceedings and book chapters and more than 500 Abstracts for National/ International Meetings. CLINICAL TRIALS: Principal Investigator in 20 phase II or III clinical trials on drugs for medullary and dedifferentiated thyroid cancer treatment.
