Jacqueline Trouillas: Pathologist (France)

Professor Jacqueline Trouillas is currently Emeritus Professor of Medicine. She is an endocrinologist, histologist and pituitary pathologist. From 1996 to 2010, she was at the head of the laboratory of Histology at the Faculty of Medicine Laennec, Lyon, France and she belongs to a research unit (INSERM 1028) of Neurosciences in Lyon. Her areas of research are the normal and tumoral pituitary and the immuno-histochemistry. Since 1970, she has studied the clinical, the pathological and the molecular characteristics of more than 3500 pituitary tumours, 500 of them being frozen, to find prognostic factors. She has published more than 160 original papers. She was a coordinator or an investigator of several French or European programs of research on pituitary tumours. She is a member of the French and the European Societies of Endocrinology. She was one of the experts of the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of tumours of endocrine organs in 2004. She was the cofounder of the International Pituitary Pathology Club in 1981 and of the European multidisciplinary postgraduate course of pituitary tumors (EUROPIT) in 2012.

Marta Korbonits: Endocrinologist (United Kingdom)

Márta Korbonits, MD, PhD, DSc, FRCP is Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Centre Lead for Endocrinology at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. Her current interests include endocrine tumorigenesis, especially the genetic origin of pituitary adenomas and other endocrine tumour syndromes. She works on both the clinical characterisation as well as molecular aspects of these diseases and leads a large international consortium to study these rare conditions. She shares her time between clinical patient care, clinical research and laboratory based research as well as teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is Deputy Editor-in-Chief for Endocrine-Related Cancer. She was a recipient of a Medical Research Council Clinician Scientist Fellowship, the Society for Endocrinology Medal, the Endocrine Society Delbert Fischer award, Nicholas T. Zervas Lectureship ( Massachusetts General Hospital), the Harrison Lecture Prize (Australia), Hadden Lecture Prize (Ireland), Lady Estelle Wolfson Lecture Prize (Royal College of Physicians), KROC Visiting Professorship Award (Mayo Clinic), Dr John Hughes Bennett Lecture (Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh), Gideon de Laune Award (The Worshipful society of Apothecaries) and The Clinical Endocrinology Trust Lecture award. She is incoming president for the Society for Endocrinology.

Michael Buchfelder: Neurosurgeon (Germany)

Professor Dr Michael Buchfelder is the current professor and chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. Following medical studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, he received his neurosurgical training with Professor Rudolf Fahlbusch, with whom he shared a very close long-term cooperation. Previously (2002-2005), he was professor of neurosurgery at the University of Göttingen. He enjoys membership of several scientific organizations, such as the German Societies of Endocrinology and Neurosurgery, the US Endocrine Society, as well as the American Association and Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Journals Central European Neurosurgery and Neurosurgical Reviews. He enjoys honorary membership of several national and international scientific organisations and societies. His areas of research include the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of pituitary and hypothalamic tumours and hormonal disturbances associated with cerebral lesions.

Christian Strasburger: Endocrinologist (Germany)

Dr. Strasburger's areas of research are pituitary disease, clinical and basic aspects of growth hormone physiology, analytical methods for the specific determination of hormone isoforms and related proteins, immune-endocrine interfaces and regulation of energy homeostasis. Previous appointments were Associate Professor of Medicine and Head of the Neuroendocrine Unit at the Medizinische Klinik Innenstadt of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany. He received training at the Department of Medicine at the Medical University of Lübeck, Germany, and as a MINERVA fellow of the Max-Planck Foundation at the Department of Hormone Research, Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel. Dr. Strasburger has published more than 190 original papers and served as the chief editor of the European Journal of Endocrinology and on the editorial boards of GH & IGF Research and Pituitary as weil as the Journal of Endocrinological Investigation. He is council member and past-president of the Growth Hormone Research Society, former council member of the European Neuroendocrine Association, and a former council member of the German Endocrine Society. Dr Strasburger was a co-founder of the European Register on Cushing's Syndrome (ERCuSyn).

Gerald Raverot: Endocrinologist (France)

Gerald Raverot is Professor of Endocrinology at the Federation of Endocrinology, Hospices Civils de Lyon, France. He received training at Lyon Medical school and as postdoctoral fellow in Larry Jameson lab, Department of Endocrinoogy at Northwestern University, Chicago, USA. He is currently in-charge of the Pituitary Center, Lyon. He leads a research team dedicated to “Pathophysiology of pituitary tumour” at the INSERM Research Center U1028. His major research interests are pituitary tumour pathogenesis and identification of markers of aggressiveness allowing the identification of potential new therapies.

Emmanuel Jouanneau: Neurosurgeon (France)

E Jouanneau has been graduated for Neurosurgery in 1999 in Lyon, France after a training with two masters, professors G Perrin for pituitary surgery and M Sindou for cranial and skull base diseases. His topics of interest are focused on skull base and pituitary diseases developing especially endoscopic endonasal approaches for ten years that had been learned from P Cappabianca and A Kassam. He is currently heading the Neurosurgical Department B, a special multidisciplinary unit dedicated to Skull Base, at the Neurological Hospital of Lyon and he is also the director of the Skull Base Section of the French Society of Neurosurgery.
