Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that you will have questions following the update regarding ECE 2020 on 17 April 2020. Below are answers to many of these, however, if you have further questions please do contact the ECE team at ece2020@endocrinology.org

Is ECE 2020 taking place in Prague, Czech Republic?

Although this is of great disappointment, ESE’s Executive Committee has decided that it is no longer possible to hold ECE 2020 face to face onsite in Prague this year. It is strongly felt that this decision is in the best all round interests of our community.

We are extremely pleased to announce that ECE 2020 will now be held online as e-ECE 2020. The online digital e-Congress will be streamed live 5-9 September 2020 and will deliver the same high-quality endocrine science planned for the ECE 2020.

ECE 2021 will now be held in Prague, Czech Republic from 22 -25 May 2021 (at the Prague Congress Centre).

I am an ESE member and the 'Choose tickets' button is not working, what can I do?

If this is the case, then there are two reasons why this is happening:

1. You are using a different email address to the one which is associated to your ESE membership account. Please note that you must use the email address which is linked to your membership to be able to proceed with registration.

2. Your membership number is incorrect.

If you cannot remember which email address you have used for your membership, or what your membership number is, please email info@euro-endo.org and they can remind you of your membership details.

I am registering on behalf of someone else, but it won't let me 'Choose tickets'?

In this case, you are most likely using your own email address to register the delegate you are registering on behalf of. Once you have created an account for yourself, you are given the option to 'Register or book tickets for someone else'- after selecting this option, you must use the delegates information and not your own.

If they are a member, please ensure you are registering the delegate with the email address which is linked to their ESE membership, and the correct membership number.

I have a new membership, why isn’t my registration working?

It can take a few days for new memberships to update on our registration system. Please allow a few days before registering for the event, to ensure that the membership data on our systems have updated.

I do not have an account, what do I do?

You will need to create an account on the system or log in if you have used the system before. When you create an account, you will then need to verify it by clicking the link contained in the 'Account confirmation' email which will be sent to you immediately. Emails from the system will be from no-reply@m-anage.com.

· Please click on this link within 24 hours (if the link has expired, you can request a new one from the login page)

· Please check your spam folder!

I have already registered – what are the options?

Given this unique situation, we are adjusting the ECE registration cancellation policy for ECE this year (ECE 2020) only.

If you have registered and paid, you can:

  1. Transfer your registration to 2021
If you could, we would appreciate you transferring your registration to ECE 2021 (which will be held in Prague, Czech Republic from 22 -25 May 2021 (at the Prague Congress Centre)). Your ECE 2020 registration payment will be applied as payment in full for your registration for ECE 2021 and will not be subject to any fee increase for ECE 2021.
  2. Request a refund
We will refund your registration fee in full.

Please let us know which option you prefer by sending an email to ECE at ece2020@endocrinology.org with the Subject Title: “ECE 2020 Registration” by Thursday 1 July 2020. If we do not hear from you by Thursday 1 July 2020, your registration will automatically be carried over into the 2021 event.
Refunds will be made by the end of August 2020.

I submitted an abstract – what is happening with it?

All accepted abstracts will be published in Endocrine Abstracts later this year and online on ESE On Demand. Both will correspond with the e-ECE 2020 Congress.

In addition, we are currently developing the e-ECE programme and are considering all accepted abstracts as part of the options for the e-ECE 2020. We will contact all submitting authors directly in the coming weeks with further information.

Please note if you have submitted an abstract at least one author must register in full to attend e-ECE 2020 and to present this work at the virtual event. Any author failing to present an accepted abstract at e-ECE 2020 will be automatically excluded from submitting any future abstracts.

If you would rather withdraw your abstract please contact ECE at ece2020@endocrinology.org with the Subject Title: “ECE 2020 Abstract Withdrawal” before Thursday 1 July 2020. Please include the submission number and title of your abstract in your email.
Unfortunately, we are not able to transfer your submission to ECE 2021. If you prefer your abstract to be presented as part of ECE 2021 and published in the ECE 2021 issue of Endocrine Abstracts, you will need to withdraw your abstract for 2020 and resubmit the abstract for ECE 2021 when submissions reopen. It will then be subject to the usual review process.

Will the content from e-ECE be accessible after the virtual meeting has finished?

Yes, the content from the virtual meeting will be accessible on ESE on Demand for 60 days to all registered delegates.

What internet browser should I use?

In order for you to have the best user experience at the e-ECE 2020 virtual Congress, we recommend using Google Chrome as your internet browser as this works best with the event's digital platform.

Will I still be entitled to my ECE travel or registration grant?

If you were awarded a full or partial travel or registration grant these will be automatically transferred to your attendance at ECE 2021.

Will I be refunded for hotel costs?

No, ESE/ECE 2020 is not responsible for the refund of any hotel costs.

Individual bookings:

  • If you booked accommodation through the ECE 2020 Accommodation link ECE’s Housing Agent, Bioscientifica, you will be refunded according to each individual hotel’s cancellation policy. If a hotel is offering a full refund you will receive a full refund, but if a hotel is issuing cancellation charges, your refund will have these deducted.
  • Please note Bioscientifica does not put a mark-up on accommodation bookings and can only issue a refund once the hotel has refunded the payment to them. If you booked accommodation independently directly with a hotel you must contact the hotel directly and cancel your booking or move it to the ECE 2021 dates.

Group bookings:

  • If you booked accommodation through the ECE 2020 Accommodation link ECE’s Housing Agent, Bioscientifica, you will be refunded according to each individual hotel’s cancellation policy. If a hotel is offering a full refund you will receive a full refund, but if a hotel is issuing cancellation charges, your refund will have these deducted.
  • Please note Bioscientifica does not put a mark-up on accommodation bookings and can only issue a refund once the hotel has refunded the payment to them.

Will I be refunded for airline or train travel tickets?

No, ESE/ECE 2020 is not responsible for the refund of any travel costs. Please contact the airline or train company you booked with regarding ticket cancellation. You may be able to transfer your booking to the ECE 2021 dates.

If you have travel insurance, please contact the insurance company directly for information and advice.

Thank you for your ongoing support of ESE and patience while we work through plans for a virtual ECE 2020 and face to face ECE 2021 in Prague, Czech Republic.
