Terms and Conditions

Please note, by agreeing to the terms and conditions, you have read the Memorandum of Association, in particular clause 7, and the Byelaws.

Application for membership

Applications for membership will not be processed until receipt of completed form and payment. Please allow up to 10 working days for us to your process your application. All applications for ESE Membership will be approved at the next Executive Committee Meeting.

Annual membership

The ESE membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December.

Lifetime membership

Lifetime membership does not follow membership years.

Membership applications

Applicants applying within the first nine months of the membership year will be expected to pay the full year’s membership fees. Membership fees will not be reduced on a pro-rata basis.

Applicants may choose to make quick and easy online payments using the secure and trusted WorldPay system or download the application form and return it together with payment to the ESE Office.

Membership renewals

Membership renewal notices will be sent approximately 3 months before the start of the membership year and as an ESE member, you are expected to ensure that payment is made promptly and no later than 31 December.

Notices and Variations

You agree that we may vary this agreement from time to time. Any such variation shall become effective by us notifying you in accordance with this clause.

Personal Details

By applying for membership, you permit the ESE and its professional Association Management provider BioScientifica Limited to process your personal details.

As an ESE member, you will receive mailings and email alerts from the ESE on its own and related activities.

As an ESE member, your contact details will be included in the online membership directory which is located within the password protected members’ section of the ESE website. The password protected members’ section is available to paid-up ESE members.


In the event of any error in your payment, please contact the ESE Office.

Refunds will be made where appropriate, at the sole discretion of the ESE.

Refunds cannot be provided for part of the membership year if membership is cancelled.


Notification of cancellation of your membership must be made to the ESE Office and received by the end of the current membership year.
