The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is the first financial instrument of the EU focused on bringing digital technology to businesses and citizens.

The proposed digital programme aims to increase investments in digital, focusing on areas of public interest, while reinforcing several ongoing cooperation projects with Member States.

The proposal of the Digital Europe Programme focuses on five areas:

  • Supercomputing
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cybersecurity and Trust
  • Advanced Digital Skills
  • Ensuring the wide use of digital technologies across economy and society

In Healthcare domain, Digital Europe programme supports focus on  Improving lives and managing diseases through a data driven EU healthcare system. One of important planned initiative is to establish a Common European Health Data Space (EHDS). DIGITAL will strengthen and support existing artificial intelligence testing and experimentation facilities in areas such as health and mobility in the Member States and encourage their cooperation.

Another relevant activity will be support for digital skills training for both healthcare professionals and for patients, and  the upskilling of the existing workforce through training in key capacity areas.
