European Task Force on Endocrine Cancer (ETEC)
Chair: Barbara Jarzab, Poland
A meeting of the ETEC was held on 28 May 2016, Munich, Germany in the lead up to the European Congress of Endocrinology (ECE2016).
Organised by the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE), in collaboration with the European Thyroid Association (ETA), European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumors (ENS@T) and the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS), this taskforce has been established to unify the action of endocrinologists towards the improvement of endocrine cancers diagnostics and treatment. It hopes to set up a platform of knowledge exchange, to drive improvements in training in endocrine cancer management and to monitor important issues in endocrine cancer taking appropriate action where necessary.
The members of ETEC created an expert panel and produced a position statement on the clinical management of endocrine cancers at specialist centres, the need for assessment by a multidisciplinary team, the need for patient opportunities to participate in ongoing research and the requirement for specialist training in the field.
