Frederic Castinetti, ESE Executive Committee 2025-2029
Frederic Castinetti is a professor of endocrinology and the Head of the Endocrinology Department in Aix Marseille University, France. He received his PhD in Neuroscience focusing on the roles of transcription factors in combined pituitary hormone deficiencies. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr Sally Camper at the University of Michigan, where he used transgenic mouse models to study the role of transcription factors in thyrotrophic development and function. He now works on induced pluripotent stem cells differentiated in pituitary cells.
His main clinical interests are pituitary, adrenal disorders and endocrine tumor syndromes. Dr Castinetti is particularly interested in the diagnosis and management of hypercortisolism. His work has also focused on the management of hereditary pheochromocytoma and medullary thyroid carcinoma, particularly multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2.
In 2018, he was the coordinator of the French Endocrine Society guidelines on the diagnosis and management of endocrine dysfunction induced by immunotherapy. He has co-authored more than 220 publications indexed in PubMed and several national and international guidelines on the management of pituitary and adrenal diseases and multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1.
