Juan Manuel Jiménez Vacas, ESE Executive Committee (Ex-Officio) 2025-2029
Juan Manuel Jiménez Vacas, PhD, is a scientist at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK. His research focuses on identifying novel therapeutic strategies and uncovering vulnerabilities in castration-resistant prostate cancer. The goal of his work is to prevent or reverse resistance to hormone therapies currently used in clinical practice.
Juan earned his MSc in Translational Research (2016) and his PhD in Biomedicine (2020) at the Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Córdoba (University of Córdoba), Spain.
Despite being at an early stage of his career, he has made significant contributions to the scientific community, with over 40 publications in indexed journals and more than 70 presentations at national and international conferences. He holds three patents and has received nine national and international awards and distinctions, including the ESE Young Investigator Award. His research is supported by multiple grants, including principal investigator roles funded by Prostate Cancer UK and the US Department of Defense, as well as collaborations on several national and international projects.
Within the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE), Juan currently serves as Chair of the EYES Committee and is an ex-officio member of the ESE Executive Committee. He also contributes as a member of the Science Committee and the Publications and Communications Committee. Additionally, he is Editor of EYES News, coordinator of the Research Observership Programme, and part of the Summer School Organising Committee. Beyond this, he regularly reviews for various scientific journals and is actively involved in science communication and outreach.
