Cushing's Awareness Day

Cushing's Awareness Day is observed on April 8 which is the birthday of Dr Harvey Cushing, a famous neurosurgeon who was the first to describe the condition in 1912.

Cushing's syndrome is a rare disease and happens when the body has too much of the hormone cortisol for a long time. Early diagnosis and treatment can reverse many features of the disease, but some co-morbidities persist and quality of life remains compromised. Hence, it is important we as a community continue to raise awareness for the signs of Cushing’s syndrome to increase early detection.
