European Board Examination in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism

Registration for the European Board Examination in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and applications for the ESE Examination Grant are now closed.

The European Board Examination in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism was held on 8 November 2023 by the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).

Together, ESE and UEMS, have worked to develop a true European examination; with pan-European governance, supported and developed by National Endocrine Societies across Europe.

The European Examination is governed by the EBEEDM Exam Board, and developed by the Question Writing and Standard Setting Groups.

The Exam board is co-chaired by Professor Mark Gurnell (UK) and Professor Graham Roberts (Ireland);  nominated by ESE and UEMS respectively. The Standard setting group is co-chaired by Professor Mirjam Christ-Crain (Switzerland) and Professor Graham Roberts (Ireland). The Question writing group is led by the afore mentioned Exam Board co-chairs.

The examination is supported, from a logistics perspective, by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), who provide an end-to-end solution to both ESE and UEMS for the administration of the examination.

The examination format consists of two, 100-question papers, taken virtually utilising remote invigilation.
