Dr. J. Aidan Carney: renowned endocrine researcher dies peacefully at home
Dr. J. Aidan Carney, a great anatomic pathologist, an endocrine researcher, a wonderful mentor, committed collaborator, and dear friend to many, is no longer with us: he died peacefully at his home in Rochester, Minnesota, near the campus of his beloved Mayo Clinic, on February 16th, 2024.
A testimony to his character his last wish: no obituaries! Dr. Carney will be sorely missed by all of us. We can’t write much more, other than saying that his memory in medicine will be forever enshrined through his many contributions, including the description of diseases such as Carney complex, Carney triad, Carney-Stratakis dyad or syndrome, and many more.
We learn that his internment will take place at his native Ireland, the village of his family:
