ESE, together with the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) and the Endocrine Society, has issued a joint statement in reaction to the Action Plan for the Chemicals Industry published by the European Commission on 08 July 2025.
The Plan is accompanied by a “simplification package”, called the “6th Omnibus”, which seems to remove or diminish important segments of EU legislation around Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs), some of which were only recently adopted.
According to the Commission these measures should save at least €363 million annually for the Chemicals Industry and make the European Chemicals industry more competitive. However, this comes at a huge cost for European health and environment and moves Europe further away from its stated ambition to achieve a toxic-free environment.
We are strongly opposed to some of the proposed simplification measures which diminish European health and environmental protection.
