In her election statement Mirjam said:
“The European Society of Endocrinology is my primary ‘professional home’. As President, I will offer my full commitment and enthusiasm to the continuous improvement of the current educational and research structures, with a focus on innovation in endocrinology. My priority will be to involve all participating nations including small European countries and developing the next generation of researchers. I strongly believe that we can only advance the field though collaborations, with every voice heard.”
Helen Gregson, CEO of ESE commented “Mirjam has demonstrated her commitment to our Society over many years, with her involvement in several activities, and most recently as Chair of the Education Committee from 2020-2024, and we are excited to welcome her as the new President-Elect. We know she will bring experience, energy and knowledge to the role and continue the excellent work of those who precede her. We look forward to working with Mirjam and our incoming President Wiebke Arlt and I am sure that together they will continue the legacy left by our immediate Past President Jérôme Bertherat.”
Wiebke Arlt, ESE President added “I am delighted to not only be the first female ESE President but to have another European woman taking up the role after me. I am looking forward to working with Mirjam over the next two years during her tenure as President-Elect. Together we will work on achieving the aims of the society, including supporting diversity and equity, bringing endocrine scientists and clinicians together and supporting training and early career development.”
