Date: 16 May 2025
The European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) and the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) hosted the first ever joint Congress on 10-13 May 2025. This truly joint landmark event, ‘Connecting Endocrinology Across the Life Course’, brought together paediatric and adult endocrine specialists from across Europe and the rest of the world at The Bella Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Congress attracted over 7,800 delegates from over 120 countries to experience the latest endocrine research and developments, providing a unique opportunity for learning new perspectives and enabling scientific exchanges across both paediatric and adult endocrinology.
The unique programme included Plenaries, Symposia, Award lectures, Meet the Experts, and Oral and Rapid Communications and innovative joint sessions involving transition and other highly relevant topics to both disciplines.
Over 3,400 abstracts were submitted, and joint abstract prizes were presented to the winners following selection by the Joint Programme Organising Committee. In addition, the People’s Choice Award winners were voted for by both the delegates and the Joint Programme Organising Committee. Details on the Joint Congress Award winners can be found on the website.
The 2025 Award winners for both ESPE and ESE provided some stimulating lectures, including the winner of the new Joint ‘Endocrinology Across the Life Course Award’ which was presented to Professor Sadaf Farooqi.
Jérôme Bertherat, President of the European Society of Endocrinology commented: “We feel elated from bringing so many endocrinologists together in Copenhagen, the Congress has been a great success. This event was important not only for endocrine research and healthcare, but also for Policy and Advocacy and the ongoing concerns we have in respect of endocrine disruptors. We believe that the excellent scientific programme has greatly enhanced learning across both communities and we trust they have also made some new friends and connections.”
Anita Hokken-Koelega President of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology added: “The Joint Congress was a truly landmark event, bringing together nearly 8,000 endocrinologists from across the globe. This unprecedented gathering not only showcased the latest breakthroughs in endocrine science but also highlighted the vital importance of uniting the paediatric and adult endocrine communities - fostering collaboration, bridging knowledge across age groups, and strengthening our collective impact on patient care."
