Education

European endocrine education is at the core of the European Society of Endocrinology’s efforts to improve care for patients with endocrine conditions. We understand the importance of access to high quality, relevant education, particularly in those areas in which clinical or basic endocrinologists currently feel they need additional support.

We provide educational programmes for all career stages and all career backgrounds. Basic endocrinology meetings allow academics to present and discuss the latest developments in endocrine research, Clinical Updates ensure healthcare professionals are kept up to date with clinical developments, while Themed Meetings provide a greater focus on individual topics. The annual European Congress of Endocrinology enables endocrinologists across Europe to come together to develop and share the best knowledge in endocrine science and medicine and, with ESE on Demand, the content from the congress is available online for members and delegates to revisit as required.

The European Society of Endocrinology is committed to providing high quality education for postgraduate clinical endocrinologists, ensuring that clinicians-in-training are given access to education which meets the standards required to work across Europe. The ESE Recommended Curriculum of Specialisation in Clinical Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is complemented by our bi-annual ESE Postgraduate Courses. Furthermore and in collaboration with UEMS, the European Society of Endocrinology is developing a pan-European examination in Clinical Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism enabling clinical endocrinologists the opportunity to show prospective employers that their level of knowledge meets the highest standards in Europe.

The European Society of Endocrinology recognises the essential contribution made by other organisations within the field of endocrine education and we are engaged in working with them to develop joint sessions and pre-congress courses, and supporting them through our small meeting grants. We also endorse external educational programmes which, following review by the ESE Education Committee, have been found to meet the level of quality required. European Society of Endocrinology endorsement provides a convenient method for endocrinologists to assess the quality of a course before registering.
