The ESE Awards celebrate those members who have excelled within their field, contributing to the advance of endocrine science. There are a total of nine Awards within this programme, and some of the winners of these Awards will present a lecture at our annual ECE Congress.
The ESE Honorary Membership and Special Recognition Awards recognise those who have provided an outstanding service to the European Society of Endocrinology or to endocrinology at large. Nominations for Honorary Membership and Special Recognition are received through and approved by the Executive Committee.
The Transatlantic Alliance Award is a joint initiative with the Endocrine Society and recognises an international leader who has made significant advancements in endocrinology research through work and collaboration in both the US and Europe.
We also have our European Endocrine Nurse Award, now in its second year, which recognises excellence in Endocrinology nursing practice, nursing research, nursing leadership, nurse training and patient engagement.

Help us to celebrate the achievements of our community and nominate yourself, or a colleague, for an ESE Award today! The 2025 Awards will be presented at the Joint Congress of ESPE and ESE 2025 ‘Connecting Endocrinology Across the Life Course’ in the wonderful city of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Joint Congress will bring together paediatric and adult endocrine specialists and we would be open to receiving nominations which appeal across the life course, where appropriate, however all nominations are welcome!
Geoffrey Harris Award
This prestigious award recognises researchers in the field of neuroendocrinology.
European Journal of Endocrinology Award
The European Journal of Endocrinology Award is presented to a candidate who has significantly contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the field of endocrinology through publication.
European Hormone Medal
The European Hormone Medal is awarded to an international scientist who has made significant contributions to the field of basic or clinical endocrinology.
European Endocrine Nurse Award
This award recognises excellence in Endocrinology nursing practice, nursing research, nursing leadership, nurse training and patient engagement.
Transatlantic Alliance Award
The Transatlantic Alliance Award is presented to a recognised international leader who has made significant advancements in endocrinology research through work and collaboration in both the US and Europe.
Clinical Endocrinology Journal Foundation Award
The Clinical Endocrinology Journal Foundation Award is given for clinical research that addresses aspects of endocrinology at the forefront of clinical practice and is sponsored by the Clinical Endocrinology Journal Foundation.
Jens Sandahl Christiansen Award
This award is made in honour of Jens Sandahl Christiansen and will be presented to an endocrinologist for a specific piece of research or project on metabolism in general (contributions to our understanding of metabolism).
Our annual Honorary Membership is awarded to those persons of special distinction in endocrinology or those who have performed outstanding long-term service to the Society.
